Quality of Life in Rehabilitatio

Outcome measurement in the field of medical rehabilitation is usually focused at evaluation of functional abilities; thus parameters measuring impairment and activity are used for monitorization of patients at routine clinical practice. Recently, parallel with the developments in other health domains, assessment of health-related of quality of life has become popular in medical rehabilitation. The reason for this is the awareness of the fact that the main target of the rehabilitation programs in the end is to improve the quality of life of the patient. In this article, firstly, quality of life and outcome measurement concepts will be explained, then quality of life assessment methods in medical rehabilitation will be reviewed and quality of life status in neurological disability will be summarized.
