Neuro-urologic evaluation of a patient with neurogenic bladder dysfunction includes several steps. At the beginning, a full history of the patient must be recorded in order to expose the neurologic diagnose, cognitive deficits and other existing medical problems. The urogenital evaluations must be performed thereafter. Type of the tests going to be used to evaluate the upper and lower urinary tract and the follow-up depends on the process of the disease, the clinical course of the patient and the previous urological problems. Ultrasound, plain film of the urinary tract, tomography, intravenous pyelography, creatinine clearance and scintigraphy are used to evaluate the upper urinary tract. The tests used to evaluate the lower urinary tract are urinanalysis, culture and sensitivity, post void residual, cystoscopy, cystogram and urodynamic study. In this review evaluation and classification of the neurogenic bladder and urodynamic studies are discussed in detail.
