Neuropathic pain  occurs as a result of peripheral or central nervous system lesions. The  treatment in patients with neuropathic pain should aim specific symptoms and signs and underlying mechanisms. First of all, the pain should be relieved and quality of life should be improved. Symptoms and signs such as hyperalgesia, allodynia, shooting and burning pain, paresthesia and dysesthesia are the aims of treatment. Treatment strategies in neuropathic pain can be classified as physical therapy and rehabilitation, cognitive-behavioral therapy, interventional therapy and pharmacological therapy. No treatment strategy can be effective alone in neuropathic pain. Therefore interdisciplinary treatment should be considered. Due to easiness of prescription, pharmacological therapy is more frequently utilized. Neuropathic pain treatment strategies will be discussed extensively and data from literature will be presented in this review.
