Spinal cord injury is an important cause of disability which affects all aspects of life of the patients. It causes serious problems on quality of life, self perception and life satisfaction of the patients. This study was designed to investigate the subjective well being and the predictors of subjective well being of traumatic, complete (ASIA-A) spinal cord injured patients. Patients with complete traumatic spinal cord injury who are older than 18 years of age and had their injury more than 2 years ago were included in the present study. Fifty-two male (28.5 ± 8.7 years) and 8 female (32.2 ± 4.6 years) SCI patients were included and were assessed by functional independence measure (FIM), SF-36 and Craig hospital assessment and reporting technique (CHART). We found that the life satisfaction of patients were well correlated with social functions (p=0,01), physical functions, role emotional (p=0,003) and mental components summary (p=0,007) subsclaes of SF-36, FIM (p=0,049) and occupation (p=0,007) subscale of CHART. Although this study seems trying to shed a light on the life satisfaction of patients with complete SCI, we think that further research conducted with a larger patient population is needed to obtain more information about the life satisfaction of spinal cord injured patients in general.
