Diz Osteoartritinde İntra-Artiküler Sodyum-Hyalüronat Tedavisinin Çift-Kör Kontrollü Çalışması: Ön Çalışma

Hyaluronic acid (HA) in synovial fluid is an important factor providing viscocity. Decrease of HA in synovial fluid reduces physiologic protective functions of synovial fluid. It is suggested that protective features of synovial fluid can be regained by the intraarticular injection of HA with normal concentration and normal molecular weight. The aim of this study was to compare efficacy and tolerability of intraarticular sodium hyaluronate (NaHa) and plasebo.
For this purpose 36 female, 9 male totally 45 patients (average age 55.49+6.94) matching the criteria of American College of Rheumatology for knee OA were taken into this study. These patients were devided into two groups. Group 1 consisting of 30 patients received weekly 15 mg/ml injections of NaHa for both knees, whereas group 2 consisting of 15 patients received only 2 ml isotonic saline solution as placebo weekly for a duration of 3 weeks. All patients have been evaluated on the 3rd and 6th weeks after the injections. Results show that all parameters related to pain and Leguesne index have been significantly inproved in group 1. As a conclusion, intraarticular injection of NaHa have been proven to be effective in the treatment of grade II and grade III knee OA.
