Nerv eConduction studies in hemiplegic patients - This study was planned to evaluate the possible nerve conduction study differences between plegic and normal upper extremities of hemiplegic patients and to asses the relationship between the clinical and electrophysiological findings. Median and ulnar motor and sensory nerve conduction studies were performed on both upper extremities in 50 hemiplegic patients. Motor functions were assessed by Brunnstrom and Motrisity scores, spasticity was assessed by Ashworth scale; demographic findings and level of ambulation were also noted. as a result of electroneurographic studies, when compared to the unaffected side amplitudes of compound muscle action potentials of the hemiplegic side were significantly decreased (p<0.01 for ulnar, p<0.05 for median nerve). There was no significant differences in motor and sensorial nerve conduction velocities between the sides and there was no significant relationship between the clinical and electroneurographic findings.
