Lower Extremity Amputations and Rehabilitation Lower extremity amputations constitute the 80-85 % of the total amputation cases. Peripheral vascular disease is the most important reason for lower extremity amputation. Rehabilitation is very important for the people who undergo amputation in order to turn back functional life again. Rehabilitation process begins at the preoperative period and continues life long for the patient. In this article the basic principle of amputation diseases, information about prosthesis application and rehabilitation for lower extremity amputation are reviewed
