Postmenopozal Kadınlarda Obesite, İnsülin Düzeyi ve Kemik Mineral Yoğunluğu Arasındaki İlişkiler

The Relation Between the Obesity, Insulin Level and Bone Mineral Density in Postmenopausal Osteoporosis This study was designed to investigate the relation between obesity-insülin and obesity-bone mineral density. The patients were divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 30 non-obese postmenopausal women and their mean age was 57.7±0.91. The mean age of the second group which included 30 obese postmenopausal women was 56.2±0.89. Routine biochemical tests were done. Serum levels of growth hormone, cortisol, parathormone and C peptid E were mea-sured. Lumbal spinal bone mineral densities were examined with dual energy x-ray absorbtiometry. When compared, the results showed that serum levels of C peptid E and bone mineral density of L2, L3, mean value of L2-L4 and L4 were significantly higher in postmenopausal obes women ( p< 0.001, p< 005, p< 0.01 respectively). There was statistically significant correlation between body mass index and C peptid E, bone mineral density of L2, L3, L4 and L2-L4 in both obese and non-obese women (p< 0.01). Furthermore a significant relation was observed between C peptid E and bone mineral density of L2, L3 (p< 0.05) and bone mineral density of L4, L2-L4 (p< 0.01). In conclusion, in obese women having higher serum insulin levels than non-obese women, bone mineral density values were found increased. We suggest that hiperinsulinemia may be an effective factor in the positive relation between body mass index and bone mineral density.
