Omurilik Yaralanması Sonrası Üriner Komplikasyonlar

The objective of this retrospective study was to compare the incidence and types of urological complications in spinal cord injured (SCI) patients managed with chronic indwelling urinary catheter, condom catheter, pads and clean intermittent catheterization. We reviewed 380 SCI patients whose nuerourological evaluations were made at 70. Yıl İstanbul Fizik Tedavi ve Rehabilitasyon Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi between 1996-2003. Group 1 consisted of 71 patients managed with chronic indwelling urinary catheter, condom catheter or pads. Group 2 consisted of 20 patients managed with clean intermittent catheterization. Age, gender, mean duration of injury , mean duration of management, level of injury and videourodynamic diagnosis were similar in both groups. The urological complications that developed in group 1 were bladder and kidney stones, bladder trabeculation, urethral defect,vesicoureteral reflux, hydronephrosis and urethral fistula. In group 2 bladder and kidney stones and bladder trabeculation were detected. The total incidence of urological complications were significantly higher in group 1 (p<0.05). When the types of complications were compared bladder trabeculation was the only significant one, being more common in group 1(p<0.05)). Neuropathic bladder is one of the most important problems of SCI patients. Complications that are caused by neuropathic bladder can be prevented by appropriate management methods that are planned after neurourological evaluations
